A Google Educator’s Survival Kit Course Introduction

Welcome to Google Educator’s Survival Kit.
I’m Kelly Clifford, and I have been a teacher, a technology coach,
and an administrator over the course of my professional career.
I’m excited to walk you through an in-depth look at what it takes to survive in the world
of Google Apps for Education. This is not a how-to course, it is a kit for
putting Google into immediate action in your classroom and your school district.
If you need more information or how-to instructions for using specific pieces of the Google Apps
for Education suite, please refer to our other courses.
So what does it mean to teach in a Google school district and what does this actually
look like? This course is designed to provide you with
a survival toolkit of application ideas and tips
to make your teaching with Google Apps both more efficient & effective.
I will walk you through the steps my school district took to create expectations and milestones
for our teachers. By the end of this course, you will have a
better handle on all of the immediate need-to-knows and suggested skill sets that should be expected
of teachers who teach in a Google Apps for Education environment.
I have organized this course into small topics so that you can quickly watch the episodes
that you need. All you need for this course is your school-issued
Google account, a device, and an Internet connection.
I do want to point out that it is important to have this foundational knowledge of Google
apps in order to be successful with your implementation
with staff and students. And again, you can refer to the other courses
of these apps to get the basics. All of the checklists for this course are
found under the materials tab. So please join me as I walk you through the
tales of my district’s journey and together we shall set the stage for Google
success in your school district.
