Indie Game News Base Building/City Building and Survival News – December 2017

Hello Indie Game Lovers, Nerds and Nerdettes
my name is Feniks and this is the Indie Game News. Today we look at Base-Building and Survival
genre. Please take your time and stay focused for
next few minutes as always you can find all the relevant links in the video description. Rimworld is a base-builder that really doesn’t
need any introduction. After 4 years in development game is heading
for final release. In a mean time we get to enjoy Beta 18 A World
Story. Developer added 3 new swamp biomes. New incidents: meteorite impact, aurora, tornado 3 new quests: peace talks, world refugee and
prisoner rescue quest. We will see Dwarf-fortress like combat logs
and reworked melee combat as well as some changes to research. We will see new furniture, quests rewards,
improvements to tribal content, more world site components whole bunch of mental breaks,
new mechanic called mental inspirations which give temporary benefits to your colonists. Additionally we will see more world generation
features, bug fixes, performance tweaks and small redesign changes. Now, this is going to be a bit longer entry
because the game absolutely deserves it. Dwarf Fortress legendary mother and inspiration
game to Minecraft, Rimworld and almost any other base building game that was created
during last decade entered version. 0.44 Meaning game is 56% away from being fully
finished. In this version of Dwarf Fortress we will
see changes the players have been waiting for for years. Ability to send out squads to raid sites,
rescuing prisoners and recovering artifacts. Artifacts created in the world generation
process and world generation to continue in a background while players play in fortress
mode. Ability to create museus and display artifacts. Dwarf fortress has been in development since
2002 and first released to public 8th of August 2006 since then game has come extremely long
way. Dwarf Fortress is often presented as brutally
difficult, but truth be told basics of the game can be mastered in couple of hours and
you will be able to run your basic for by the afternoon without any major hiccups. Beauty of the game lies in it’s complexity,
incredibly detailed world generation and whole world interacting with one another. Fans created many external tools and additions
to the game making it play more intuitive and look better from graphical tilesets to
isometric view. I could not recommend you more to check this
video description for dwarf fortress section where I will link you to both channels that
supplied footage for the series. Kruggsmash and Keupo as well as detail step
by step tutorial by Dastastic that will teach you everything that there is to know about
the game. Plant Nomads updated to the version 0.8 with
Monumental Travels. Game allows you to now travel in huge mobile
base, added new vehicles hovercrafts. We will see addition of rotours greatly expanding
what you are able to design, we will see central grid control allowing for better fine tuning
of controls over your ships and base. Developers have redesigned electricity and
added proper rechargeable batteries. We will also see addition of difficulty levels
and ability to customize planet parameters. And more changes to the game. Planet Nomad initially released on early access
on 25th of May 2017 and received mixed reviews. Game has been worked on since then and it’s
currently at a state I am happy to report to you guys sitting at 70% overall reviews
out of over 350 reviews submitted. Judgment Apocalypse Survival Simulator update
14 is here. The Neighbors game will now feature neighboring
settlements, you will be able to trade with them raid them and even convince their people
to join you instead. Equipment has seen overhaul to improve and
enhance tactical combat. Items will now feature passive bonuses and
active abilities to use in combat. We will see changes to skills and addition
of new skills to the game. We will also see new weapons, armor research
and addition of human enemies. Apart of that game will see several bug fixes,
performance tweaks and improvements. Judgment Apocalypse was first released on
11 of April 2016, gathered 87% positive review score on steam out of over 550 reviews submitted
and is heading for a full release in first quarter of 2018. Galactic crew have seen update 21. Developers have focused on optimizing the
game engine, ensuring things are ready to handle more features. Quite a nice change from games like Ark that
puts more content without addressing fundamental issues with tha game. This update was necessary to ensure expansion
of a scope of the game is possible in near future. Galactic crew released on Early Access on
29th of October 2017. I know it will be controversial entry in here
as game spans across multiple genres. It’s a roguelike in it’s FTL-like exploration
of galaxy with some survival elements added and base-building as part of expanding your
ship. In Galactic cre you take your valorous crew
on exploration mission of undiscovered galaxy. You will explore planets, retrofit and upgrade
your ship, trade with merchants fight for survival. Game received 75% positive review score on
steam. Another controversial entry They Are Billions
set to release on 12th of December. While not fully base building it’s a Age
of Empires like RTS in post apocalyptic future. I got few requests for it via email, comments
and reddit so here it is. World has been taken over by space zombies
and you lead one of the latests bastions of uninfected population. Your job will be to Build dwellings and acquire
food for the colonists. Collect resources from the environment using
various building structures. Upgrade buildings to make them more efficient. You will have to build army and defences because
sooner or later never ending wave of infected will rush your way. Game features 4k graphics for those of you
that run powerful enough systems. Interesting mechanics of infection spread
make fighting enemy more exciting if even one unit sneaks to your base more and more
of your workers will become infected and you will quickly have to find solution to quarantine
whole sections of the base. Strategic placement of choke points is probably
advised in here. Time for our final announcement. Stars End is set to release at some point
in 2018. Stars End is a multiplayer sci-fi survival
game set hundreds of years in the future, in a solar system colonized by humans escaping
their dying home world. Start with basic supplies and find a way into
space. Players will have the opportunity to travel
the system to seek out resources, completing missions and uncovering mysteries – while
building strongholds in space and planetside, continually facing the danger of other players. Utilising procedural planets, the game world
is vast – but it’s not so large that you won’t be able to play with your friends. The biggest feature of Stars End is planetary
warfare and territory control, with hundreds of players populating each server. Be it FPS fighting across planets and space
stations, or dog fighting in open space. Stars End aims to breach a gap between survival
game and mass multiplayer experience. It is a huge undertaking and we know many
games tried it and failed badly. I will keep my eyes on it but I advice you
guys to approach with extra caution. Okay guys that is it in this month Indie Game
News. If you know of any other games that should
