  1. lot of people need to get solar panels to charge there phones and lights . as while as for light in the tents or in camp all solar lights just charge them in the sun in the day when the sun's out . in vest in a HAMMACK for back up if you don't have a tent works great and is off the ground

  2. I agree with you 110%. A bag needs all the things you will need and things in a ready made bag are of no use if you don't know how to use them. You are a very smart woman.

  3. I bought a "mystery" bugout bag from Budk. It was a great bargain, but I had to tweak it. Add this, take this out, add some different tools, add more fire, shelter, food and water, etc. By the time I was done with one bag, I could have made 2. Live and learn. I still don't regret that purchase, it's a learning curve. I now have a car bag and a home bag, each tailored for what it might need. I even have a bug-in bag (basement pantry), now. Shit happens.

  4. I am not a fan of ready made bug out bags, but instead build a kit myself since they don't have everything you wanted or the quality of supplies in them. Using my military training I built my own and have what I need in it for what is needed when camping or surviving in an emergency. The only thing I have not fully prepared for is things my pets would need in an emergency and I do have to prepare for them also.

  5. Not saying all of them are "not good" but many of them IMHO are too generic and/or still need items added like for example lighters or matches. Of course pre buying one would save time but you also dont really get to choose certain items or color. There's something about creating a kit/bag on your own, where you know it personally, and have used the items in some way before too. All the best to you , the family and the dog(:D ) from C.R.

  6. Can't emphasize enough how important an EDC can be for any type of emergency. One day a bunch of right-wing fascist proud boys (punk-ass jerks) tried to take over a crowded space in town to protest. Anti-protesters showed up too and the police pretty much closed off the downtown area to prevent violence – leaving the rest of the regular folks stranded -since there was no bus or train service. I had to walk to the next community to catch a ride home. Thank God for my EDC. I was able to use some of my tools/bag goodies to make the walk easier.
